Vexed by Damaged Set and Bad Seller

Hi all, I am from SGP. This is also my first post and I'd like to seek for some help from the veterans here. A bit of coded phrases since you guys are quite sensitive to certain words.

I purchased a DM900-C from a supplier sometime last year. It was working very until until the card expired. (Got to know this after reading through this forum) The supplier then provided my with a new kiss and everything worked fine.

The DM900-C box then spoiled early this year. He sold me another box called the MK8822 and everything went well until July 2010 (can't view all the paid channels). Supplier was not contactable anymore.

Now after reading the forum, it seems that DM500-C is the way to go (have to load the image provided by some bros here). Found some China sites that sells it but wonder if they are trustworthy. I understand that the DM900-C is not an official DM equipment and can't telnet or FTP into it.

Another friend is trying to push a box called Black Box 888 and claims that it can watch demand TV and also is a card-less system.

I am quite skeptical about such boxes (sold by suppliers)now as I have spend good money in those investment. Now, I'd like to get a box that works and perform some DIY instead of depending on supplier.

It seems that DM500-C is the way to go as from this forum, I can see that it is getting a lot of support. Any advise for me?

    Sorry or being long-winded.

Black box 888 used the same mainboard as DM500C except the casing are some cheaper one.

You are still able to do flashing, ftp & telnet to the box provided they (seller) did not change the default password.

The reason why people here prefer DM500C is b'cos we will not be in your situation is b'cos there is no card use so no expiry issue here. Even if without autoroll, we can use remote or computer to write the key in manually.

Hi SGDVB! Thanks for the the reply. Does the DM500C and DM8000HD support the new S***H** 3-digit numbering system?

Also do you have any knowledge on the MK2288 STB?

You got PM... Thanks a million!

Have reply to you via PM.

Please note that for DM500C & DM800HD, you are able to do the 3 digit numbering but not the other STB around (i.e: DM900C-II, FY901, HQK3388).

For MK8822, even worst, nothing much you can do.

Who you buy this black box from?

There could only be 2 reason:

            1) Your supplier have not install any keys to unlock channels so you cant watch.
            2) No cable signal to your house so you can watch.

Hi, i've also gotten this similar box.
              "Black 888" in 2 lines.
              - It's supposed to be DM500c and running on PLi image.

              Start Of Web Screen
              Black 888 Product Screen
              OSD When Not Connected

Was using this for a while, then out of a sudden the system went black for the paid channels.
Only able to view FTA channels.

Getting into the Setup also requires a password.

If i connects thru ethernet, i can view FTA only.
But if i change to paid channels, and select 'screenshot' i can see what's showing.

I have the same problem too. I have 1 of such box, and my friend has a similar one. I got the new passkey for it and entered it, pushing the yellow button that asks for the key id. I promptly keyed it for mine, and it works.

however, my friend couldn't get his to work, I had him bring his setup box over and tried, his yellow button shows only "Audio", "Stereo/ Left Mono / Right Mono" selections on FTA channels, while paid channels show some coding. How do I get to the page where i can key in the ID?

                    Forgot to add, we're both running on PLI Jade, DM500c.. in SGP on S T A R H U B...

I just got one Dreambox DM900C from local supplier! I had issues viewing channels recently but he just fixed it for me without additional charges. The only bad is he doesnt have any shops but I could say his products quality isnt bad after all!

                            Black Box 888

Hello, I'm new to these forums and I'm keen on getting the Blackbox 888 (Singapore). I've asked around and the dealers all seem a bit dodgy.

Can I find out how to go about it to ensure that I'm not paying for a dud?

Please help me as I'm not good at bargaining and as a girl, I think I always get the raw end of the deal.
