Are you trying to connect with your pc to the dreambox or are you trying to connect your dreambox to the internet. If you have downloaded the fix where have you downlaoded the fix, is it on your pc or is it on your dreambox?

When you say you have dreambox connected to your modem do you mean your broadband modem, router or the modem on your pc? How does your pc connect to the dreambox?

If you pc does not have an ethernet port than a crossover cable is no use to you, I assume that what you actually meant was that your pc does not have a serial port.

you need to either get a pci ethernet card for your pc or if you know anyone with a laptop get a loan of it and use a crossover cable to connect to your box
