    Think all Nokia are 2-chip, Sagem can be 1 or 2 chip.
    If memory is correct Sagem 1-chip has 1 scart output
    and Sagem 2 has 2 scart outputs.
    There is a program called CHECK FLASH TYPE for D-box
    but you would be quicker to whip off cover & see is there
    1 or 2 chips inside

      Identifying D box

      Thank you yes it is a sagem. I opened it up but can only see 1 chip marked Avia 600 although there are 2 scarts in the back. It is running a sportstar programme but I have no idea the latest software what patch or where and how to load files. I have a router connection for it to plug into a laptop running 64bit win 7 and a cross over seriel cable if neceassary with a usb drive converter ! The win 7 was problematic for driving the CAS 3 and diablo cam but I have some idea how to make it operate . Also read a complete guide existed but cannot find a reference to download. I get could get that far and then see what happens save wasting your time with such a noob !!! Grateful for the start . I am guessing this is a 1 chip sagem then but is it a 500 600 800 ?? No idea as they all look the same dont they !! Thanks again

        Make sure there are not 2 chips in d-box as other components
        are very similiar to chips, which are usually marked 'flash'
        Have a look at this
        Digital Kaos - Downloads - Dbox2 for Dummies
        There are loads of tutorials if you look under;
        DOWNLOADS--D-BOX--GUIDES
        Commando 12 is probably best image to use & if you use the
        Hallenberg IFA to flash image you should have no problem
        This can be found under;
        DOWNLOADS--D-BOX--OTHER

          Eamo 2 thanks for the links across I will read up and download. I had foolishly followed a U tube back up tutorial in realtime and now the Dbox loads but displays nothing nor in the lcd window all blank ???

          I will follow the instructions you set me and let you know.
          The utube told me to back it up inside its own sector but somhow I have made a mess of it. I will try this today and feedback. I am assuming it is a sagem 2 box although your right there are a few big chips on the board but i am not that technical to be definite.

            Use Hallenberg IFA to flash Commando 12 image to d-box. There
            are comprehensive instructions with it & it will sort out box even
            if you have already flashed wrong image

                Thanks Eamo2 Smoggie

                I have had a good read on the idiots guide. I did follow the u tube guide to back up image. What a twat ! Oh well the screen on TV shows boot up and a sportster image still. Then on the screen after all a total loss of TV stations from a v*r** signal. C**l*

                Then the LCD on the d box stays up with a bar on the top. It does say its 1.0 version not the 1.2. It is a sagem twin flash chip box. Ca*** receiver.

                The remote still opens all the menus but can only be read and guessd at via the small green lcd display. It shows menu mode and scart choices and the rest.

                I do not have a cross over cable as recommended in the guide but do have the null modem lead. Are these not the one and same thing ?

                Running win7 and no hyperterminal so it looks like it might get more difficult. Shame about the reading on the software loadup stuff FTP all in german. I am sure its easier when its been practiced with . Apologies i am not complaining.

                OK if this is crackable i will keep up the effort to learn also have a sta**V box here but will seek help on the right pages as i venture into that arena too . thanks for the support guys !!
