Dreambox 500c Noob

Ok so I stumbled upon your forums and have a question to ask. I currently have a Dreambox 500c running DigitalWorldz1.6 Firmware. Its working great, and have just updated the keys that I found on this forum I bought the box pre-flashed and have never updated the firmware, something I know nothing about

What I now want to ask is should I upgrade to the Kaos firmware found on these boards? And if this is the case, how would I go about doing it?

I'm happy with the ftp'ing and that would it literally be a case of ftp in, delete the old stuff and replace it with the new image? Or would this not work?

Im based in Newcastle if that makes any difference

if its not broke dont fix it, the main diffrance between the two are that digital worlds server is no longer with us,so you cant download cams pluggins ect were as with the kaos image you can so you have to ftp them over, they are both very good images.The digital world no longer gets support but it still works fine as you know,I always install new images using dreamup and null cable its safer but there is a guide in the dreambox section of how to do it,I switched from digital world to the kaos just because i think this site is the best around and the support is second to none not because there was anthing wrong with the digital worl image

if its not broke dont fix ,id read a lot more b4 i start fuzzing about with my box ,its not just ftping trust me theres alot more than that .read the red stickies to get a flavour of what your about to do ,am not trying to put you off or anything by all means have a go ,but think you should keep what youve got the now and just read ,i took about 2 weeks b4 i attempted anything,but having read a lot helped me understand a lot more so i wasnt stuck when i needed to ask questions

personally i think you get a better picture quality on standard def with DK v1.1 than you do with the DW image....

but that might just be me....
