Try diff. scart lead or scart connection. Presume you have volume
on box turned up (V+). Check AUDIO button see is it set to AC3
or ENGLISH

I'm using the RCA connectors. Volume is maxed and there's nothing I can set in Audio.

Don't know, Paul(plasterer) would be your man. You could try
simple things first, use scart or try new AV leads

I have noticed a low volume on DM500S regardless of image, I suspect it's hardware and would be the same on both the Cable and Terrestrial tuner version.
