    Which Dreambox for Virgin, Hellas Sat, and HDD recording?

    Hi everyone,

    I hope someone could point me in the right direction.

    I currently have Virgin Media, A sattelite dish and receiver for Hellas Sat, and a DVD recorder with HDD.

    I was wondering if there are any Dreamboxes that could do all of these (apart from the DVD) in one.

    I think we can get the free channels on Hellas Sat without the dish with a dreambox. Ive heard of a way that these channels can be received via the dreambox's internet connection. I'm more interested in how virgin media can be accessed from a dreambox, and if recording programmes is possible like you can with V+. Ive looked through various threads, but am worried since the new Nagra 3 card that it isn't possible anymore.

    Your cheapest option is DM500s connected to sat dish to pick up
    Astra 28.2 (s*y channs.). Connect box LAN to router to connect
    with C/s server. Scart from box to DVD to record programs
    More expensive option is DM800s HD/pvr. High def. box and has
    record capability.
    Both of above boxes are available in cable models but you would
    have to find cable/server or set server up yourself, which is not
    straightforward & involves paying full cable package

      Thanks very much for the reply. Ive gone for the 500s which I found for ?55 new. I'll be keeping the virgin media box along side it and may look into recording from the dreambox to a media server (if that is possible).

      Our current set up doesn't seem to send enough power to the dish's motor to move it to other sattelites. It works when I take the receiver upstairs with a shorter cable to the dish. Do you recomend any particular booster for the 500 s or are they all non specific to the model?

        May be a problem with your current sat-box or cable connection
        to downstairs point. Set up DM500s to try it out & make sure
        connections at box & dish are perfect. Also read this thread;
