Dreambox keeps auto rebooting - unable to connect to it

    Hi Guys

I upload a skin to my box successfully, I then selected it, hit save changes, yes - to apply the changes, box rebooted. Now my box will not boot up, it loads the dk splash screen then reboots (loops). I have tried to ftp to it but I can't as it keeps rebooting. Any Ideas!!!

    Hi
Yes, use dreamup and a null modem cable to load a F/W image back in.
Sometimes after loading a skin it fills up or corrupts the memory.
Only way is Dreamup and cable if it won't fully boot

Thanks for reply. I was afraid that you was going to say that. I was hoping that there as a simpler fix ie power down for some time or short a connection. It looks like that I'll have to take a trip down to maplins tomorrow for a null modem lead.

          Thanks for your help everyone
I managed to get a cable for ?2 from my local shop. Reflashing with dk v1.0 image then upgrading to v1.1 solved my problems.

              DK image reset

Yup, same here. had to flash 3 times before it fixed itself. Scary when you first get it but dont be fooled into thinking its dead, just keep flashing till it comes back. Pete

I seem to have exactly the same problem.. mine keeps on rebooting after flashing DK 1.1 via telnet.. gets as far as the logo screen then goes black and then reboots.. I had already bought a null modem cable.. so with any luck it will arrive tomorrow...

I take it that when you flash with Dreamup and the null modem cable that it interrupts the reboot cycle to allow the flash to complete???

I've got a similar but not identical problem on my 7025+. The box keeps randomly rebooting for no obvious reason about once an hour. Does anyone know whether this is likely to be a software problem (and therefore presumably resolvable by flashing a different image) or a hardware problem (e.g. perhaps caused by over-heating and therefore potentially harder to resolve)?

I followed advice by despdan and was able to reflash my box.. It basically involved holding the power button down on the remote whilst plugging in, which then let me flash it with flashwizard.. All without a null cable!! LOL

                            Dreambox keeps on rebooting

My hd800 kept on rebooting, but I was able to login with telnet.
The problem was that the root filesystem was full.
So I decided to remove some packages to free space. That worked for me and I did not have to reinstall the image.

                            Here are the details:

                            1. Telnet to the dreambox
telnet 192.168.123.60 (= my ipadress at home)
                            2. Login with root
                            3. Change directory to the hard disk
                            cd /media/hdd
                            4. Check the filesystems
                            df
                            5. List all the packages and redirect it to a file
                            ipkg list > ipkg.txt
                            6. Select a plugin to remove and then remove it
                            ipkg remove enigma2-plugin-extensions-webcamviewer

When df showed that the root system was 95% used, then the dreambox was working again.
