DM500 cannot flash dm500, can only detect box type

hi,

i am trying to flash dm500 via null cable which i just purchased but i'm not sure weather it's the correct type. it can only detect box type on the dreamup and can't go any further than that.

any suggestions?

btw could it because of the usb to serial adapter?

bro if you have a multitester test port 2 and 3 whether if it cross,if not you have bought a serial cable....

USB to serial adaptors do not always do the job or you have to make adjustments to the settings and this is not always possible. I have found that the unbranded version from Maplins works the best without any adjustment, but only on DM500 not DM800HD which does not respond to it.
