dreambox switches off

Hi all m8s dreambox 500 playing up everytime he plugs it in boots up logo of image appears very briefly then the box goes off , anyone heard of this before please

you'll need to use a null modem cable (ebay ?3 and Maplin ?10) and the DREAMUP software and upload digital kaos v1.1 image

it will work fine after that

it will work fine after that

M8 i have a least 20 null modem leads , i loaded DKV1,1 now it loads and goes from AV1 to a screen that says channel 3 and there is no picture .

A mate of mine had a box doing the same thing. He would power it up see the logo and then it would reboot. It would do it over and over again. He ended up buying another and then gave me the box to have a play with it.

I didn't have a clue about the dreambox, in fact it was the first one I had seen. Took it home plugged it in and it was doing the same thing. Had a read up on here and tried a few things but nothing. I had a good look at the box and when I looked at the power adapter it had looked as though it had melted through overheating.The cable was fine but the transformer had melted.

I had a search around for a replacement and found one on Ebay. When it arrived and I plugged it on the box worked. I went through the whole flashing process and now have a dreambox 500c for the cost of an adapter, approx ?14 I think inc p+p.

ahh. just read post #5. ignore this. but I'll leave it as it may be useful for someone else.

If you're using a scart lead make sure all the pins are connecting properly and it's secured. Or try another one. I have had trouble with the picture and it's been the scart not connected properly. Not clued up at all on dreambox so other than that useless piece of advice I can't help m8......sorry.

I have had two doing this, I flashed them both many times. Sometimes they would power up and work for a day or 5 mins. I would send back to the supplier as I never got to the bottom of it. Though I did suspect the tuner.
As soon as it tried to display any channels it would reset constantly.
