pulling my hair out with ip problems

    hi all
I have a laptop running vista 64, ethernet crossover cable, filezilla ftp, and have followed the guides and suggestions on the many posts on the site.
my box has the following protocol.
    ip add 192.168.0.100
    sub mask 255.255.255.0
    broadcast 192.168.0.255
    Default gate 192.168.0.1
    dns server 192.168.0.1
    sync via DVB
    ntp server 130.60.7.42
    ntp/dvb-refresh 30

I try to ping the box but get no response. even when i power the box down and back on. Please helpppppp, as its doing my head in. what am i doing wrong, or not doing . Thanx

      try turning of firewall/anti-virus

when you change ip on dbox "save and restart"

try using the patch/crossover cable from your modem! worked for me why i started flashing boxes "bad cable"

      hope this helps

on the connectivity icon bottom right

double click on it, then NETWORK and SHARING box opens.

you will see a picture of your laptop pointing to the internet.

click on view full map. A new box opens showing all devices connected.

choose, wireless network, or in your case local area connection.

If you right click on your device ( network card ) it should show you the IP address of it.

Now go to your box and try changing box ip to 1 above that of your network card and try connecting , reboot your box first and make sure the IP address has changed.

on ur lappy type ipconfig in the cmd prompt if it reads 169.254.136.111 then set ur box to 169.254.136.110 or 169.254.136.112

copy the whole var folder to PC, in there should be all the files you will need.

save zapit folder var/tuxbox/config this will save ur service/bouquet

save ur kys folder from /var

save ur emu folder /var/bin or /bin

and take a back up of the whole img.....

if ur going to flash Commando10 then theres an explanation how to get 7-day epg working in the epgfilter.xml file if ur happy with a 1-day epg delete this file after flashing, this also applies to the new Laky img

hi mate dont plug the crossover over lead in until you have set up both ip adress
change the dbox ip to 192.168.0.3
on the pc go into network setting and the properties of the network card
on internet protocol service 4 click properties
and change to use the following ip adress then type in 192.168.0.2 press ok subnet mask should auto fill thats it ok and close plug the crossover lead in then use a ftp program to connect to the dbox filezilla or something like that
                    oh turn off any firewalls
                    good luck

if ur using a previously saved bouquet just flash that across and u shouldn't need to do much editing therefore use the bouquet editor in the img ie dbox-service-bouquet editor

the picture on the flash? do u mean during boot-up, u can use a program called logo viewer to do this.....

you have to create a back up of ur img....once this is done u will see it in the temp folder......it will be 7.88 mb in size and probably called mtd3 or 4....you transfer this to ur pc.....rename it and date it....if all else fails u can always reflash this back on.

how to create a back up........
