    Possible Cam issue using Evocamd on commando10 image

    Hi All,

    I currently have a Nokia Dbox2 which I am looking at for a friend. The box came with a linksys 2x image on it and Evocamd. He needed the rom7 updated as i'm sure everyone did at the end of november.

    I FTPd the rom over to his box and rebooted. the box came back up and everything looked fine....... until i started to flick through the channels 5 minutes later. the sound started to go and then the picture. EPG looked fine on all channels though. The box seemed to be descrambling the channels at first, then 5 minutes later beginning to lose them??

    So I tried deleting all the other roms (3,10,11 etc.) and rebooting..... same issue.

    I then tried deleting the Evocamd emulator and replacing it with another copy in case it was corrupt..... Reboot later.... same issue.

    I also tried restarting and reselecting the evocamd from the blue button menu but no joy.

    I then figured I may as well try another image and give that a go. So i downloaded commando 10 image ftp'd newly dowloaded (for the third time)roms and evocamd file. copied over the bouquet and service files, along with the keyfiles which i had saved before flashing and tried again. now i get as far as being able to see the channels but again losing them after 5 minutes??? Although sometimes I am having to flick past a channel and then go back to it before I can see it.

    New image. New roms. New softcam. Same keyfiles. Same service and bouquet files. Same problem. Any Ideas????

    Oh I also tried scanning the new image without the old files but the situation was worse and I could only see two or three ppv channels and all the fta ones.

    NB Issue only happens on the ppv channels the fta have been fine throughout.

    I'm pretty much at my wits end here. Have been pulling my hair out for the past three days!!!

    ANY help or suggestions are more than welcome. And if you think I've done something stupid or missed something simple please feel free to mock me whilst pointing it out, I'm past the stage of caring......

    Mucho Gracias, Barry

      sorry should have mentioned that in my first post.

      Tried both those ucodes as well as built in. And spts is definitely off. same issue.

      Appreciate the help though.

          Just realised that this part from the original post isn't strictly true! the channels would come back after restarting the EMU but then 5 minutes later I would lose them again as before.

          Thanks

            sounds like it may be getting too hot....remove the modem if still there....try running with the cover off (see if an improvement) some people have connected fans

                  @MetMan:-

                  I tried leaving it off overnight to cool and then running without the cover this morning but the problems still the same.

                  @mini:-

                  Even though this is the second image the issue has appeared on I think I will give the Blade quad a go and see how I get on with that. I will post any results later.

                  Cheers Guys......

                    mini, Just out of curiosity which softcam do you use on the blade quad image?

                    Are there generally any particularly good Cams or particular cams recommended for certain images??

                    The one I was using on the Commando image was evocamd 2.17c.

                      Had the same problem. Flashed with Commando 8 to make sure box wasn't goosed. It then became a mission for me so I reflashed with commando 10, checked that the cmd_cfg file was set to auto update, deleted all roms except for the nagra 7, also ensured that the zapit/config folder only had services, boquets and current services in it. I found that doing a complete reboot of the box brought the rest of the channels back. Good luck and please persevere (it took me quite a few attempts before I got the box running ). It is a good image (and a credit to the writers) when you get it up and running.

                        Thanks for the info and help guys but managed to sort it out.

                        I was browsing some of the other posts and found a link to the "Real Magic" files here

                        Decided I'd give a completely new set of files a go and ftp'd them all over and chmod'd the necessary ones. Tried it and rebooted, but no dice. So while going in to restart the cam to see if the symptoms were the same (ie. lose the channels after 5 minutes when I restarted the cam) i noticed the mgcamd and thought I'd give that one a blast.

                        And hey presto!!

                        The bloody thing worked......!!!

                        So in this case it looks like the evocamd was not compatible with the image but the mgcamd seems to be working perfectly, don't know if this is prevalent in many other peoples experiences of the Commando 10 image or not......?

                        Well thanks to both of you guys for your input and thanks to PahosAl who posted the files.

                          Some boxes in some areas are 100% stable on evocam, but are shaky with mgcam. Other boxes in other areas (as in your case) it's arse about face.

                          Once you know, though- you know for good. Unless you move, LOL!

                          Cheers- AL
