            Did it work for you?

It shouldn't say patch cable on it. Patch cables are used, for example, between computer and router or dbox to router.

Crossover as you know are for comp to comp or comp to dbox.

very easy if you have one of these: Crossover Cat5 Network Ethernet Adaptor Converter RJ45 on eBay, also, Adaptors, Cables Connectors, Computing (end time 03-Feb-09 23:21:53 GMT)

                      very fiddly if you dont

Surely you can just take a straight through cable and split the cover, cut a few strands and resolder. Messy I know but if you've got a cable sitting in a draw doing nothing!

Why bother, when you can get a ethernet converter adapter for a couple of pounds. This way you can use the same cable as a patch or a crossover.

You can use straight through cable, all you need to do is move couple of wires around but then you would really need a new cable end plus cat5e crimps.

fredsuthers way is so much easier

                              hello,

is it possible to use normal connection to my router and then to the PC or it MUST be DBOX2-PC with crossover?
