The dbox2 does not work on MMDS as the tuner is Dvb-c which is for cable.
You need a Dvb-T tuner as MMDS is terrestrial.
The dreambox 500-t and the dreambox 600-t work on mmds, the 600-t can have a hard drive fitted to turn it into a pvr. also the box-t and eurovox-tx will do the job.

PS do you have n#l mmds?

thanks for that gizmo, can you tell me if i got one of the boxes you recommend would i beable to mod it over here to take to barbados with me to obtain their channels, it's for a mate who has arranged my wedding and thought it would be a nice treat for all his trouble as he was asking me about these boxes last time i was there.
        thanks again

The variant of MMDS they use there is DVB C and your box should work. The problem is not the tuner its getting the frequencies for you to scan on.

i take there'll be some lads over there who have a monopoly on the island programming the boxes for a fee!!
sorry satsmo are you saying the dbox2 would work?? as gizmo seemed to doubt if it would as they use dvb-t??
            thanks again

It will but as said I wouldn't know the frequencies required. The variant of MMDS they use is similar to N*L MMDS and I think thats what gizmo was hinting at.

Similar to Ireland they use a DVB C variant. The DVB T variant is used by Ch*rus. So yes your box should work as it is DVB C. If memory serves I think the provider ID is 1D01 this may give you a starting point. Its still N1 as far as I know.

Better off with a slingbox as the cable channel line up over there isnt the greatest

there are 'bajan' boxes which were/are very popular.

im sure the db's work but no idea how.

im a bit confused here though. so are you saying that a cable box would work by connecting it to the normal ariel? just a case of scanning?

there were a few suppliers of these boxes particualarly for barbados. friend said its throught the arial but i didnt get what he was trying to say.

i've a lot of mates over there mate and everytime i go it's a common question "next time you come bring some german dreambox's or dboxes" but i've never seen a dbox2 over there apparently you can buy them pre loaded over there for about ?400 but they're as rare as rocking horse shit.

Made a few enquires and you may have a problem with the Cam also. They use pk1 instead of pk2 as used here. There may be a Cam you could use but I am unsure so I will not post something I am unsure of.

What type/model of STBs do your mates use over there?

Both if possible scubar. I am sure there are linux boxes in use as I too have known people to use them there. However unfortunately, I have lost contact with them many moons ago.
