New D box problems!

HI there, Iam like alot, very new to this and would not look with out there being a problem that i need to solve! So iam in a serch for the knowledge to be a checky too! Yes iam sure you have heard it all before! laugh now as iam sure i will be a dum ass too! I have got a d box from germany, that is debuged, it is a 1 chip Sagem, i have plugged it in to the local NTL cabl line and scanned for channels, if have found them, but when i swith them on it says waiting for time, if the time, after several minutes the time does display on the front pannel. but the chanels say error waiting for EPG, i have been in touch with the man i got it from thinking it may be nakered, he tells me that i need a uk image? Well i have read severl things on this site today and have learnd alot already! I have looked at the vist set up and what i need to do, i have downloaded the camando10 x1 emage and the software image flashing assistant! Guess what i can not get it to find the cable! Is that coz its the wrong one? Please help or i will have no hair soon! Thanks Guys!

have u entered the set location , another one is , , ( a feel daft saying this , but all week i was trying to get my sagem to work tried every image but nuthing , i simply forgot the ariel wire from box to tv ) try that m8

That does not sound silly at all! This may thought, What do you mean by set locations> I have looked and can not see where i even do that! Iam very new to this! I have Vista and can not even get the pc to connect to the dbox via a null model cable! Yer i have real problems with something so simple! HA

press blue button on remote go to set location , scroll down to your area press enter. then save settings then reboot the box. then go to service via the dbox button scan for channels press ok. wait till the scan finishes then go to sly sports 1 and wait for it to clear.
what image is on it at the minute?? what comes on the tv when you're waiting for it to boot up

Well i have been and pressed the blue button and no where can i see set locations? I have the sportster image at the moment! I seam to be haveing real problems with this box! ha! Or is it the box thats having problems with me?

The plot thickens, i have now managed to concet the pc to the dbox and started to run the flash, it stops and a message in german comes up, the log on the screen says that i is not dbootp has failed at broadcast, i think it is something to do with the security settings or that the conaction, ie network conection is not made as it has a x on it even though it is enabled, i have a null modem cable that has a usb add on that the pc finds! Any help guys?????

what set up you got ie cable dbox to pc or thru a wireless router?

if no router r u using xover ethernet cable?as well as the null modem?
av and firewall off?

back to scanning if there is not set my location then do the settings manually....what area r u?

I have a null cable and it is on vista, i have turned off the fire wall and all the other bits i can think of, In in Grimsby Lincolnshire, uk. You will have to give me a step buy step as ans you can see iam am very new to this one! Thanks Again!!!

you don't use image flash assistant with only a null modem u need an ethernet or xover ethernet cable if direct....the connection is made with the ethernet, the null is only for the log.....

u can use the null only with the hyperterminal method but this is usually only used as a last resort

try dbox-service-service scan.....

frquency = 755000 or 643000
symbol rate = 6887

then start scan

can't remember all the commands there are in sportster, if no luck post back....00022 is the net id

got an router/ethernet cable or xover u can use to connect pc to dbox?

yer i have a cross over and a nullmodel that i can use, i ahve had problems trying to connect tho, but are willing to try agsin if you can help? so what next!
