Flash a new image and search the net for the magic files ftp them to the image and it will auto update. No need to input any codes.

    THE TRUTH
    The Hillsborough Independent Panel. 12/09/12

Today's report is black and white. The Liverpool fans were not the cause of the disaster.
The panel has quite simply found 'no evidence' in support of allegations of 'exceptional levels of drunkenness, ticketlessness or violence among Liverpool fans' and 'no evidence that fans had conspired to arrive late at the stadium' and 'no evidence that they stole from the dead and dying'.

Yep the only way out is a reflash. I've done that lots of times by trying to record something when the directory is not properly mounted. This leads to the box running out of space and the image becoming read-only.

You don't need a null modem cable to flash a dbox2, all you need is a crossover ethernet cable.

Get yourself an FTP program, there's on in the download section.

Get your PC talking to the dbox2 and then you're ready to flash.

There's a guide here which will help you, it's for the dreambox box same principle.

How to Connect your Dreambox to your PC

FTP your img file to the /tmp folder on the box.

Then, using the remote, do the following on the box...

          DBOX
          SERVICE MENU
          SOFTWARE UPDATE
          EXPERT-FUNCTIONS
          WRITE ONE PARTITION
          FLASH WITHOUT BOOTLOADER

Select img file from the list and then ok.

Image will be flashed, takes about 2 mins then the box reboots.

When it comes back on it should have the new image on it.

Have you ajusted your network card to suit
                  Right click on your network
                  properties
                  Scoll to internet protocol
You need the ip addy of your d box in the top line
1 above or below is best, although it will connect in close sequence
                  D box=192.168.1.110
                  Net w = 192.168.1.109 or111 thats an example
                  Hope this helps .................Paul

hi all, i have followed all instructions and in the bottom right hand corner of flashfxp it says im connected (connected to 192.168.1.110) but im not seeing any files from the dbox which are supposed to appear in the left hand side of flashfxp. now that its saying im connected but no files are being displayed has baffled me totally! if i have missed anything please advise.

It may have taken you to /root, click the yellow folder icon with the green arrow pointing upwards, see if that shows some folders.
