1/ Make sure you turn off antivirus, firewall and disable wirless network.
2/ make sure your network card has a static ip address and is set to 10mbps half duplex.
3/ switch on your dbox and conect your crossover cable.
4/ Start ifa and select the image you want to flash when you press start a box will come up saying your computer will now be prepared for the flashing process,
5/press ok then restart the dbox by pressing and holding the power and up buttons on the dbox simultainiously till the box restarts.

the lcd on the box should say flashing if it doesn't something is blocking the network, eventually it will say fertig this means finished. shut down ifa and restart the box again your new image should be installed.
did as above. no real result. had some activity in the snese that "network activity" was showing mac address and ip sent. but then went dead after that, was sitting there waiting for the box to startup, whislt the box has already started and is looking for channels. there clearly on two differnt wavelngths

the connection seems to be fine now, only thing i can alter now is by physically changing the harware card, all the software combos have been attempted surely by now.

I tried to use flashfxp again, with contious connections timeouts as a result.

    username: root
passowrd: sportster or dbox or dbox2

neither seem to work, but pointless really as it doesnt really want to connect.

what version of ifa are you using? The latest portable version seems to work best for most people. You could use a null modem cable and post a boot log. The other option is to use hyperterminal method, it is always possible the network on the dbox isn't working.
