DBOX2 STOPPED FLASHING!

Was wondering if anyone could help?

I used 2 fash my sagem dbox 2 without too many problems using a crossover cable.

I now have a null modem cable aswell on COM4 modem is on COM3. It just keeps crashing the software when i press start on IFA (portable, tried lots of versions but no joy)

I use IFA because my Blade Quid image keeps reseting lately and always gets stuck on loading kernel. So i cant connect using smart FTP.

I have used various images and cant get it to start flashing properly with just crossover. Now and again it says loading software on pc but the hellanburg doent kick in properly.

Im starting to think i have being grassed on for getting free channels. But maybe im being paranoid and the DBOX could be damaged.

I am going to try and get another box. But something tells me im going to get the same problems, like box turning off on live sports, then getting stuck, every time. coincidence dont u think.

Hi there, was just reading your post & see you know a fair bit about flashing. I have just got a digivox-t box & attempted flashing it via the com port but am stuck on chdl - sorry if this sounds like complete rucbbish. Any tips would be greatly appreciated because I am stumped right now

disable any other network cards not in use - both wired and wireless, disable all anti virus, spyware apps and both 3rd party and windows firewalls.

Set the only inuse network card 10-HALF DUPLEX. i've found mine only flashes with both crossover patch lead AND a null modem connected.

i'm guessing if it's COM3 and COM4 you're using USB>Serial converters? onboard (the best) COM ports are usually COM1 and COM2

leave the box unplugged from the wall while setting up IFA then plug it in after you've press the next button and IFA starts to flash. sometimes, it needed unplugging/plugging in a few times.

have a look on youtube for Turners IFA dbox guide - different boxes all seem to work how they want

Im sure if you go to control panel - system - hardware tab - device manager, then ports (com & LPT), right click communications port - properties, then port settings, here you can change the com of port to com1 which is what I prefer and it works all the time. Hope this helps!

Yes im on a loptop. I cant pick COMM 1 or 2. Ive managed to flash again without the null modem. but keep getting probs with blade quad lately, but i never used 2.

Allsorts mate. Starts with freezing usually. mostly on live sports.

Then it usually resetts and gets stuck on loading kernel. So then i have to reflash using IFA coz it will not FTP.

It seems to take a lot of goes to reflash. I bought a null modem, put then got more probs so i went back to just crossover cable.

Null modem is ment to just tell you whats happening, but how come it tells you whats hppening in hallenburg with just a crossover?

I think im gonna keep trying to reflash with enigma 4 1x and try to sus cams out if successfull.

Stick it on a sport channel, press red > technical info and posts the SNR/BER readings

could be a signal issue/tuner on it's way out. Sagem's are notoriously unstable - it's a case of finding an image that works best FOR YOUR BOX as boxes often differ even from same models/brands.

if it keeps needing re-flashing, check the heat coming from it, give it more air/space. Also, some people have luck removing the modem as it gives a better air flow.

Ive done all the usual stuff. tried other versions but the 1 im using usually works. sometimes the software kicks in on pc. But the hallengurg sofware doesnt on Dbox. Ive had this trouble before. Then 1 day it just worked. This is driving me mad. Any ideas guys?

I had the crashing problem a while ago. Every time I started the download and powered up the box the computer froze. Never found out what caused it but ok now.

Before you open ifa make sure you cables are connected and the dbox powered on. Then load the image into ifa check the com port is correct if using a null cable hit start, when told to hit ok and power the box hit ok then unplug and plug back in.

It always works better when starting the download with the power switched on then switching off and on again. I do it every time and dont even bother with a null cable. Just ethernet straight from the computer.

Try the ifa attached. Its a good one.

And post the Results as a text doc
Ifa can be stubbon
But again its diff versions for diff boxes

cheers DW190 i aready had the engligh version of that. Its the porable version that runs from RAM isnt it.

Right the IFA is loading but the flash software on Dbox isnt kicking in. Im getting:-

TFTP: Sending C:\Program Files\DBOX_IFA\tftp\u-boot

then uboot usually just starts to boot on Dbox then gets stuck on loading kernel? what the f**K???

Can VM send a signal to stop a box from flashing? because this just aint making sense? anyones opinon whould be apreaciated. I dont think its a heat problem either coz its well ventilated.
