Dbox3 (coolstream HD1)

No, not a joke, the "Coolstream HD1" (touted as the new Dbox3) is done!

I got one of the first ones here (thanks to pt-1), it runs Neutrino just like a Dbox2 but with HD (hdmi) and PVR esata support. Ftp in and it is just like a dbox2.

Only available with a satellite tuner for now, but cable version to follow soon.....

Thanks SS I have been keeping tabs on it myself. I would like to see how you get on with it. So many questions I could ask and probably will But if you get a chance could you post a small review, e.g. picture quality over HDMI etc.

I see from requests coming into Coolstream that they are mainly originating from Germany. I wonder why

No probs, will be posting pics and a review in a few days, I'm more into Enigma than Neutrino so learning here with this box.

Initially, I am impressed with the hdmi output, but first time I fed a telly here with hdmi so not got a trained eye for HD quality.

I have played with usals, dish moving ok it appears, only tried a usb stick for timeshift and recording, works well but a bit of stutter on HD time shift.

I'm hoping to sort out an external sata in a few days to test that side of it.

The first batch only got sent out last week, so coolstream devs are looking at bug reports from first feedback and updates are already coming out!

Early days for this box, but pretty stable already. Will keep you posted.......

No, not locked, unlike a dbox2, this is a new box and designed to run Linux (neutrino).

Not at the monent, it is claimed that Cccam support will be sorted soon.

Ok, I was lucky, got mine direct from the first test batch so was cheap (ish).

Apparentlly, retail price (but depending on the dealer) will be 299 Euros (so about 260 quid).

Which isn't bad for a HD box with esata support running Neutrino and (eventually) open source cvs I guess....

I think the first batch of 50, intended for beta testers, but the retail box should be the same.

I'm guessing the first 50 was to get initial feedback for bug fixes before appearing in shops. Already there has been 2 updated official images in just one week with various bug fixes and new features.

At the moment there are only 3 official retailers, here is one of them.

Did Seife himself do the Neutrino does anyone know? and with Neutrino it was all GPL, and they publish it, interesting to see what they do with the HDMI drivers source wise,,, could be some conflics.

I struggle to follow the posts in the coolstream forum as I rely on an online translator, but I don't think it is Seife as he is asking for the sources!

Audioslyer and lucgas appear to be involved, but coolstream are claiming they will make the sources public soon.....
