Have i killed my box

Hi guys,
Ok I just got the commander file and decided Id upgrade my dbox cos it lost most of the channels ages ago. I followed the guide using Ifa to do the flash but my lappy decided to die it the middle of doin said flash (had only got about 5 bars in Ifa window) so not been runnin long.After moving main pc close enough to replace the lappy I try again but now when i get to pluggin in dbox nothing happens lcd lights up but cant read anything on it all is just scrambled and nothing happens in Ifa on pc screen.
I then tried to do it by ftp in xp but cant access the folders on dbox. Looks like I screwed my box so anything I can try to get it back?

ftp method wont probably work now, you will have to try IFA, do it like you did in the first place, might take a few reboots for it to work but persist and hopefully it should start flashing again.

if that doesnt work you could try the longer way of using hyper terminal and a null modem cable to flash it

ok cheers guys, tried the IFA loads of times and cant get anywhere now so will have to pick up a null modem cable today and try the hyperterminal way.. heres hoping .

Try using rennys portable IFA its in the downloads that should work.

thanks I will try the portable version now.
Got all way thru hyper terminal way and it failed at the last bit the "cp.1" line when i typed that command in nothing happened didnt get the copy to flash msg.

Thats because you typed a 1 instead of a lowercase L the command is
cp.l

DOH ! what a prat, ok guess id better start all over again or can i just carry on from where i was as image should be on box already ?

Gotta go read up on forum but if anyone can point me in right direction i would be grateful just to save time.Been that long since ive messed wiv these boxes i forgot everyfin.

I have the exact same problem with a Nokia box I have, i;m just waiting for a RS232 cable to arrive then i'll attempt the HyperTerminal method.

Does anyone have an alternative link to download the u-boot.rar as mentioned in the guide? or my email is [email protected] if anyone can help me out.

Follow Fergal's advice in another very recent thread in here, and use IFA Portable 3.1 - which works 99.9% 1ST TIME on just an ethernet cable (x-over if direct PC > dBox connection).

So you can get a refund on your RS232 cable, which probably won't work anyway, coz the Chinese don't include a proper 9 pin COM1 Serial port on PCs and Lappies any more, do they?
