    Black Screen Virgin+ 2.1 flash

    Hi All,

I have just flashed my image from an old blade trinity image to Virgin+ 2.1 Lite.

The flash went smoothly, I entered my location and did a fast scan but i now get no pictures, just a blank screen (everything seemed to be found ok though).

I get the Free to Air channels fine and radio works too but I only get a black screen on locked channels.

I ftp'ed the "real magic" files onto the box and performed the 0755 changes. I then checked my keylist.txt in /var/keys and this was blank so I transferred a backup of my old one over.

I can't think of what else to try now apart from maybe flashing commando instead but I would like to get this working first.

    Any advice please?

Is 0755 a typo (should be 755) Try restarting your cam and go to sky sports 1 and wait a few minutes.

        Hi Peter,

When you have transferred the "cam files" to the dbox using flashfxp or similar software you right click the file and select Attributes(chmod) then in the popup box change the value to 755 (default is 644).
Does this mean you have got your box to scan???

Well, I had no luck after restarting cam.

I have reflashed again just to make sure it's not a bad flash and this didn't help. I still just get a black screen. Does Virgin+ still use keylist.txt?

What are the new folders in the "real magic" directories for? I have rechecked the keylist.txt and it appears fine with the latest keys. I have tried both cams too.

Is it worth trying to get hold of another 2.1+ version?

What files do you have in var/bin/emu?
Just confirm you are still getting fta pictures.

Well, I've tried a Commando 10 2x Nagra image and that has worked like a charm. I just had to set my location, scan and everything got picked up.

I'll leave the Virgin+ one for now but I will go to Commando 11. I didn't need to transfer the real magic files. Will i need to do anything with them for 11?

Lastly, all my bouquets are now gone and everything is a right mess. Is there an easy way to fix this? Are bouquet files for Notts\Mansfield available anywhere?

                    Thanks for your time.

I've figured out what I was doing wrong and hopefully it may be of use to others. The problem was the real magic files. I was being stupid and just copying them into the root of the dbox instead of using the underscores as one directory deeper. So var_bin_emu translates to /var/bin/emu.

That's what you get for expecting / instead of _. I have read a few guides on this on I didn't see that mentioned anywhere, so hopefully others may read this and figure things out.

Mind you, I wish it had taken me longer as I got it working just in time to watch Liverpool lose 3-1.

Although I still need help with my bouquets please.
