    Getting Gbox to work?

    ive read that Gbox stops chirping/freezing on sagems but how do i get it to run?
    ive tried it on every image ive used recently and i just get a blank screen on extra channels,ive chmod to 755 but it doesn't work,ive tried on commando 11.3 ,no joy.It would turn on in cam selection with evo or mg running aswell but not run on its own.
    ive now got blade quad and i just can't get it to work.Am i missing something? ive got the magics in the right place and the gbox config is there,do i need to chmod anything else apart from the gbox in emu folder or put anything anywhere else?
    thanks

    Try Al's enigtrino image that has the evo au to gb*x swap function in it
    or you can manually edit the nagra file in var/k*ys with notepad to get it running on blade but it wont au also remember to chmod 755 gb*x after you have sent it to the box.

              Really sorry to hear your out of work but i wouldn't advertise ur a trader as they are as popular as Gordon Brown, even if it is only a couple of boxes to earn a couple of quid.

              image developers spend a lot of personal time and resource to make these images and patches avaiable for everyone and don't receive a penny......so why should anyone else make money from their hard work....

              hope u get a job soon

                yeah,i understand that,ive struggled with my box since i had it,allways froze no matter what i flashed it with untill i stumbled across this site,first time its worked properly in nearly 3 years is with the image i got from reading here.Im not after making a profit of anyones hard work and hadn't thought that i would,had a few mates round the other night and i was bigging up my dbox and how great it is now.I had bought a second box that was shite and had to stick it back on exxbay,they all wanted to buy it,so just said if i get them for whoever wanted them id sort em out,bought 3 for 50-60 each,kept one for me,took over a day on each flashing and ****ing about trying to get em working for my mates so stook an extra ?10 on top thats all.Now got 2 other people who already had boxes so said id sort em out for a 10er each,im no trader and please don't think im trying to make a living off others work,im not ,i'll make these the last 2 as ive said the help im getting here sorting my own box out is great and i do apreiciate all of it and the work everyone has put in to make this possible. I'll send them in the direction of the site.

                    M8- reading between the lines, I knew you're not a trader wannabee. It's just the way you phrased it that left you wide open to flamers accusing you of being a trader, that's all... (hence my gentle post above!)

                    All these boards cost money to run and donations are always welcome, to help with the physical costs of having vBulletin licensing and support, Server hosting etc etc. No Admin I know of on these boards actually profits from them- the reverse is more likely the case...

                    Keep your dosh, and donate when you're back in work and flush again, which will be soon, hopefully.

                    Cheers- AL

                        right,ive put all in the correct place (i think) under comm system menu i now have Smart-switch to Gbox softcam if i choose this the picture will go off after a few secs.

                        in the soft cam menu it displays this.....

                        MgCamd off
                        Evocamd off
                        Gbox on

                        softcam version
                        Camd2 Version Prem-Support
                        MgCamd Version N/A
                        EvoCamd Version 2.17
                        Gbox Version N/A

                        at the minute ive got

                        Mgcamd on
                        Evocamd off
                        Gbox on

                        seems to be running smooth but the signal bars on the channels in bouquets are a lot lower than normal.

                        so Gbox on ,on its own still won't work,im guessing ive got things where they should be as its showing upin the menu.

                        just wondering about the N/A ? should there be version nos. or is that right?

                        thanks

                          That's only cosmetic, and if you replace the existing emu_versions.txt file in /var/etc with the edited one I've attached, you'll see the versions are shown then.

                          You shouldn't have mgcamd AND gbox both ON at once! And looking at this bloke's gbox support stuff, he seems to have geared it to using evocamd as the AU 'donkey'. So a bit of housekeeping for you to do:

                          1. Turn mgcamd and gbox both OFF
                          2. Delete /var/keys/Keylist.txt and SofCam.Key and nagra
                          3. Delete /var/bin/emu/mgcamd
                          4. Turn evocamd ON and wait for AU (new Keylist.txt is created)
                          5. Turn evocamd OFF
                          6. Turn gbox ON (new nagra created, sourcing data from Keylist.txt)

                          And that's it! Until you get black screens, meaning a keyroll- which isn't that often these days. In that case, the user would have to carry out the following procedure:

                          A) Switch gbox OFF
                          B) Switch evocamd ON and wait for AU
                          C) Switch evocamd OFF
                          D) Switch gbox ON

                          Really, this bloke should have mentioned all this in his readme. Very shoddy workmanship, I call it...

                          Cheers- AL

                            Bollox! I haven't got all day to waste, waiting for the poxy Attachments box to load!

                            Just edit that file yourself, by emptying out everything in there, the paste this in and Save:
                            Code:

                            evocamd=v2.14
                            mgcamd=v1.22
                            gbox=v02.25
                            camd2=generic

                              Something else the geezer who messed with my miniops forgot to do! If gbox is the 'active' cam, then we want gbox to start up automatically after a reboot, don't we?

                              Well, he completely overlooked that very basic necessity!!

                              The revised miniops (which goes in the /bin folder) in the attached kit will do just that.

                              Cheers- AL

                              Oops- perhaps not a very good idea to attach that package directly, might be a banning offence.
