What use now for Irish Dbox?

Now that the premium channels are unavailable to most, What uses can the Dbox be put to?

Is it possible to run the antenna cable into the dbox and then run a cable from the dbox into the antenna slot on the official dvr unit.

Hoping to get all non premium channels onto the dvr for recording purposes, while only being on the minimum package?

    What else is possible?

In theory, that should work, m8- why not try it?

Important point to remember, though: TV Out on dbox is NOT an RF output- it's only a one-way digital feed pass-through. So, for example, you could feed a second dbox (on different channel) off the TV output co-ax socket, but if you connected a TV to it- you wouldn't be able to tune into the currently viewed digi channel from the dbox.

So having said that, I'm now not so sure your cunning plan will work after all.

Similarly, you can't connect your cable modem downwind of the dbox from this socket either, as there's no return path...

Best bet is to think how lucky you've all been for up to 5 years- and donate all your dboxes to worthy causes (UK Image developers) LOL!

    Cheers- AL

      Thanks for that Al,

You are right, it doesnt seem to descramble the ordinary channels.

Not sure if Im ready to donate the box yet. Ive had it a good while now and its been down before and come back!

I know it hasnt met the might of Nag3 but still - Im an optimist!

I still think there may be a good use - Im using it direct into the tv for channels I dont recieve - just a bit of bother turning down sound and changing AV and so on.

There must be more practical uses!
