    Dbox flashing virgin.

Excuse my ignorance, just trying to learn about the black art of flashing my Dbox.

After reading this forum and others, as well as googling a few key points I am going to give it a go.

I have a laptop with a wireless broadband connection, I assume it goes something like this:

    Download software to laptop.
Connect laptop to Dbox2 using ethernet Xover and nullmodem cables.
    Transfer downloaded files to Dbox.
    Reboot box

    Hey presto Tv pictures again

This simplifies it alot and no doubt I will run in to all sorts of problems, as long as I dont wreck the box.

I want to pop my dbox flashing cherry

If you already have an image on your box and can acces the dbox menu you can flash a new one wirelessly using only flash FTP or similar. If your box isn't already up and running and you want to flash an image on it, you need a xover cable and IFA. It will take about 5 mins or so thats all. Good luck m8, if you need any help just post

    THE TRUTH
    The Hillsborough Independent Panel. 12/09/12

Today's report is black and white. The Liverpool fans were not the cause of the disaster.
The panel has quite simply found 'no evidence' in support of allegations of 'exceptional levels of drunkenness, ticketlessness or violence among Liverpool fans' and 'no evidence that fans had conspired to arrive late at the stadium' and 'no evidence that they stole from the dead and dying'.

Yes as above, get yourself an FTP program, there's on in the download section.

Get your PC talking to the dbox2 and then you're ready to flash.

There's a guide here which will help you, it's for the dreambox box same principle.

Dreambox Guides, Tutorials, Tips and Hints How to Connect your Dreambox to your PC

Copy your img file to the /tmp folder on the box.

Then, using the remote, do the following on the box...

      DBOX
      SERVICE MENU
      SOFTWARE UPDATE
      EXPERT-FUNCTIONS
      WRITE ONE PARTITION
      FLASH WITHOUT BOOTLOADER

Select img file from the list and then ok.

Image will be flashed, takes about 2 mins then the box reboots.

When it comes back on it should have the new image on it.

Managed to get my laptop talking to the Dbox through smartFTP

I then was able to copy "commando9" into the tmp folder in the Dbox
Followed your instructions and the image was flashed successfully, box rebooted - no channels! Any ideas?

To be honest I just about managed to stumble my way through things and all was looking well yet still no channels.

          Help!

i believe that the commando9 image was stripped of the keys\roms\cables.xml

so unless you can get hold of those from your old image, you wont be able to get anything just yet.

Is it an easy fix - just copy flash another image?

Any suggestions - Blade Quad, Boxcracker ?
