A friend has bought a Sagem Dbox from Germany, it's come with a disk, guide and image files.
He has connected it up to his cable, but he is only getting fta channels. Asked me to have a look as I am more computer literate.
When it powers up, there is a SPORTSTER screen, so assume it has a sportster image, although I'm not sure how old, possibly 2005.
I have managed to connect the dbox to my pc and via FTP look at the files on the dbox, should I be able to see the sportster image file within the TMP folder ???
I have read about Bouquet, Cable, Service, EMU & ROM 7 files, these all exist on this dbox. ROM 7 files on this dbox are from 2005, so I assume it would be best to update them??
Sooo, as I have to do make updates then take it round the friends house connect it up and see what happens, what course of action would I better off following ?
1. Just update the ROM7 files to see if that works ??
2. Flash a more up to date image and ROM7 files and go from there ?
I am a complete novice at this, although in IT, I am a mainframe dinosaur, so this is my first go at something like this.
Any help/pointers gratefully welcome.
