I'm a complete dunse. Please help!!!

Hi there,

I know there's probably a million people before me who have asked these questions, and I apologise now, but anyone who can point me in the right direction will be my friend forever.

I have just flashed my nokia dbox2 for the first time since getting, with Commando 11.3 image. I appreciate you can only get the FTA stuff.

I read some threads which spoke of "magic files". So I downloaded these. Now I'm stouck!!

Am I supposed to extract the files then rtp them in their folders, exactly as they are to my box?

Or do I take the files out of the folders and copy them to specific files on my box?

Do any files need to be deleted?

Finally, it keeps mentioning i need to "755" my file. What the cluck does that mean, and how do I do it.

Transfer the real magic files to your dboxmake sure the files in k@ys etc are the same on box ,evocamd & mgcamd. Are in var/bin/emu. And once they are transfered to your dbox through FTP you need to set the attributes of the 2 camds . Right click on them dbox side,properties,attributes and change them to 755. And save on the way out..close FTP and reboot box or leave on ss1 to update. Thnx m

Hi. Thanks for that. Awfully sorry, but is there any chance you could put that laymans terms? I don't know how to 755 something. I'm using Internet explorer to do all this, do I need something else?

Either way.....

Then locate the var/bin/emu. on the dbox side, In there will be as I mentioned above" the camds" then right click on each select , properties, then attributes. Then chmod to 755. It says 655? Or something like that just change to755. And click save/ok

Just for future reference,

It would be worth your while getting flashfxp for transferring files to and from your dbox. I'm pretty sure there is a manual as such for using flashfxp on a dbox in the downloads.


It is handy to transfer the files, then for CHMOD you can select them all at once, and 755 them.
