Hi All, me again, just wondering a few simply questions. Now being a complete noob at this kinda thing i thought i would ask a few questions and hopefully some nice person will put me straight. Basically ive got hold of nokia dbox2, its got a neutrino 1.7 image on it and it finds FTA but nothing else. My questions are though 1:Why do you have to put an image on your box? , 2:Why do you need that uboot file? , 3:Whats are the cams that people keep talking about? Im about to follow the tut at the top of the screen but dont know if i have everything to sort the box. Ive got hyperterminal,uboot and a commando image, but is that all i need to sort this box out? The img is modded for uk use, it allows u to scan and view channels for the UK.
you don't if u flash using network cable ftp or ifa method, thats used for hyperterminal and serial cable, only use as last resort2:Why do you need that uboot file?
the cams are the emulators, they emulate a subbed smartcard and using the correct cam they will de-encrpyt channels which are scrambled, this is illegal of course.3:Whats are the cams that people keep talking about?
just get xover network cable or ethernet if thru a router connect box to pc and use the dbox menus to flash and backup

Thanks matey. That really has helped me and things are alot clearer now. Im trying to flash the box with a serial cable and hyperterminal but no luck so far. I think im going to have to get a network cable and try the way you explain, nice one, many thanks.....Comment

Ok, so far so good. I have now managed to flash the Command 11.3 (2 chips) image onto the box and it sees 306 transponders. I dont know whether to do a BRUTE FORCE scan or a FAST scan, and im a little confused as to have auto scan on or off. So far this box has only found FTA channels and nothing else. Can someone please point me in the right direction of unscrambling more channels please. Also i would just like to say thanks for your help guys, this box has been in the loft for going on 6 years and was about to be tossed in the bin.Keep up the great work, cheers

If you have the extra channels (scrambled) then you just need to add the magic files, these are available here: Tools
You ftp these to the dbox and chmod the emu and lib files to 755
Right click on the transferred file and select attributes (flashfxp) then change the highlighted value to 755
Once finished go to sky sports and wait for channel to clear if nothing happens after a few minutes press blue on the remote then the dbox key and restart the cam (evocam) then go back to sky sports and try again.
If your scan did not find these channels then press the blue button twice and then select set my location choose your area then go to the services menu select service scan and then select start scan and when finished check for channels.

Ok, im lost
I downloaded the RAR file, but dont have a clue what to do with it. Never used flashftp before and im totaaly stuck. What cables do i use, ethernet or null modem and do i unrar the file or just send it straight over to the box. Thanks again. Im so close to getting this sorted thanks to you guys.....

You need to use a ethernet crossover cable and a ftp program flashfxp here is a guide
which shows you how to set your network up
then extract the folders from the rar file then you need to transfer the files in each folder to the same folder locations on the box and chmodd 755 all the files except the files in the var/keys folder

Just unrar the files
Read the read me with them
Fire up FXP with a CROSSOVER enthernet cable
Or straight patch via a router
Enter ip and user and root and connect to the box

LOL, its 4.05 am now, and this box is doing my head in,. I thought getting the xommando image was the hard part,. Well, ive read up loads and im still none the wiser.Im sure this time tomorrow it will be up and running but right now im hitting the sack. Catch you tomorrow guys, many thanks....
