Nokia DBOX2 problem with FTP and Image Backup

Hi, i have flashed a Nokia DBOX2 in the past with no problems. I have just got another Nokia DBOX2 and have connected the dbox to my PC via an ethernet crossover cable and the pc detects the box with no probs (using cuteftp). However when i start to copy the new image across to the tmp folder on the dbox it gets to about 70-90% of transferring and then stops with an error "Cant write to data socket socket error #10054", every time. The box has an existing Blade_quad v4.00 on it, and i am trying to copy across Commando 11.3. When the ftp error happens the dbox seems to "crash" and go very very slowly, and has to be turned back on. Also i have tried to backup the image on the dbox, the bars get to the end of backing up and then the dbox crashes again. Does this mean i have a faulty dbox, am i overlooking something very simple, just wondered if anyone else has had the same problem and knows what i am doing wrong. I know this info is a bit vague, but any help would be greatly appreciated. Is it something simple like there being not enough free space on the dbox for the new image?

try what plasterer says but if you have no luck that way you can flash the image using the null modem cable only method

          On Remote try
          D box
          Service
          Image upgrade/backup
          Backup one partition
          FLASH WITHOUT BOOTLOADER
Image is saved to tmp folder as mtd3 or mtd4
Do not switch of the d box or it will dissapear...........Paul

ftp new image to the tmp folder and then from the dbox menu install it as 1 partition without bootloader
