    New To Download

    Hi

I have just got my hands on a SAGEM DBOX which has SportsterPro 1.2 (Thats what it says on the front panel). The block who gave the box to me said I would have to download code to again because he had messed around with it.

I have read the guidlines on how to flash a dbox with a serial cable, but I don't know where to find the file u-boot.mot and then what/where to find the imagine I need to download.

Can anyone point me in the right direction.

    Cheers

Your best bet is to get yourself a crossover ethernet cable, connect the dbox to your PC or your router using this cable and you can connect to the box with an FTP program, copy over the new image and flash it using the menus on the box.

There's a guide here for connecting a dreambox to your PC, it's the same principle for the dbox2.

Dreambox Guides, Tutorials, Tips and Hints Blog Archive How to Connect your Dreambox to your PC

      There's an FTP program here...

      Digital Kaos - Downloads - FlashFXP v3.0.2

After that, you will need to copy some more files to get it working 100% but we can cover that once you get it flashed.

Also take a look at PT-1s Dbox2 Helpfile in the download section, that has everything you'll ever need.

        Hi

        First thanks for the help.

I am not completely sure what you mean by "Please ask questions on the forum, not via PM, then everyone can benefit from the answers given! " Am I just being daft!

I have just managed to download the u-boot.mot and am still trying to work out which image to use, should I be tring to find sportster pro again or would any imagine work on the Sagem.

        Cheers

That is in my signature, it's printed at the bottom of all my posts. I get a lot of questions via PM and I believe in asking questions on the forum and not via PMs, then everyone can benefit from the answers given and not just the person who's sent the PM.

I would flash a blade image, they are good. Any image in the download section is good.

            Flashing an image ?

            I found a copy of u-boot.mot @

            RapidShare: Easy Filehosting

I have loaded that and followed the instructions for "Flashing with serial Cable". I appear to be getting all the correct messages as per the instructions, but the DBOX appears just to hang when I reboot it. I tried downloading the latest version of Commando.

I am just wondering how you know when an imagine your trying to download is without bootloader or is there more to getting the DBOX working ?

The only difference re the instruction is I get an error message just after the Control C, which is
              Un-Protected 63 sectors
              ## Booting image at 00100000 ...
              Bad Magic Number
is this meaningfull in anyway ?

              Cheers

It's easyer to flash on the way Devilfish sayed.

Take a crosslink utp (network) cable.

Connect to the dbox with a ftp client like Filezilla or others. For connection you need to fill in the IP adress, the username is "root" and the password "dbox2" or "dbox".

Copy the image in to the map /var/temp

Then go to your dbox menu and choose setup followed by expert setup and than software restore/update.

Than you choose flashing without bootloader and press ok.

Your image will be flashed (make sure that you don't cut off power will doing that)

When you flahed it you restart the dbox (sometimes it could be that you need to unplug it)

Make sure you got the right image there is a 1xI and a 2xI image, you need to choose the 1xI if you got 1 cpu in it and the 2xI if you got 2 cpu's inside.

                Good luck with the flashing

                  flashing the dbox2

                  nermos is right.

Make sure you know if it is a 1x or 2x chip as it is much harder to fix if you get this wrong. All us newbies have to stick yogether.

This may seem like a silly question, but how do find out the IP address ?
I watch the lcd sceen on powerup, but there is obviously something wrong as it doesn't do very much.

                    Thanks for the support

Not sure if I have goosed things with previous attempts, but the lcd screen only shows "Kein System" on power up,

Is the curtains for the box ?

Update, it is a Sagem X1 box which I have and yes I tried to download a X2 image

Your getting kein system on the box because you have flashed it with the wrong image ?x. If you flashed it with 1x then try it with 2x or vice versa that should work.

Now you are in a kein system
The only way out is to use
                        Image Flashing Assistant
                        And a crossover cable Direct
                        That should do the trick
If not attatch the Null mowdem as well............Paul
