Help please...Total beginner

Hi there, I've had a Dbox2 for about a year now and it was preinstalled with Sportster. Iit has been working fine up until today when all the FTA channels work and only some of the subscription channels appear (e.g. all sky sports channels) with majority channels (all Sky Movies channels) just showing a blank screen. From reading within the Dbox forum, I believe I need to update the software on my Dbox? Am I correct that I will need Image Flash Assistant and the Commando software. Any pointers towards any information for total newbies would be appreciated. I don't believe I have a "null" modem but can the file be transferred via an ethernet cable? Thanks in advance for the help and apologies if this information is elsewhere in the forum.

What area do you live in ?

I'm based in Hounslow, west London, Middlesex, UB2. I think its the old Telewest area..

Virgin are changing there encryption to N3 and are upgrading there software. So it looks like your area as had the 3.7 stream upgrade to cope with the new encryption. Have you got a subbed box or received a new card from virgin?

What you need to do is a rescan this will pick up the new transponders but it will only last a couple of weeks until you lose all channels again if your area as add the upgrade...........

I did have a new card sent through to me by Virgin, this was a number of weeks back and its been working fine until today. Not sure what a subbed box is.

I did re-scan when i found that a lot of the channels weren't appearing, no good. Still none of the movie channels are coming on.

Any solutions or is that it and no updates can assist?

hi m8 the very fact uve receved a new card weeks ago tells me n3 has knocked on ur door in other words ur ~~~~ed, vermin must have changed there incription in ur area, ur box is dead,dead,dead. soz for the bad news m8...

How comes some of the channels still work then like S***s, thats the part I couldn't work out. Should I assume that they will blank out soon too.....ohh well got a year out of it I guess!

They may be moveing the channels over Gradually
Have a look at the pid.info via tuxbox commander on sky S***S 1
And lets know the contents ...........Paul

Yes m8 you will lose them eventually as they turn over to the n3 encryption. You will see the channel's disappearing one by one until they are all gone. You will only have the fta ones like BBC,ITV and so on.....
