    Dbox 2 - Commando 12 - Windows 7

    Hi everyone

I have a dbox2 which i currently have commando 11 on it, and recently the channels have stopped working, a lot of the fta one still work so i thought id put the new commando 12 on.

now the problem im having for some reason is that i cant flash the new image on, i dont know whether its because im using windows 7 or what.

im doing it exactly the same way i did it last time as and when i had windows xp.

i changed the ip settings on computer and dbox, connected them through dbox IFA and it wont load the software onto the dbox.

i changed the network settings, turned off the firewall, and antivirus etc, i dont know what else to do!!

i managed to use flaxhxp and see all the files on the dbox, and even tried copying the commando 12 image onto there, but its not on there when i try to flash boot it on the dbox.

any help would be much appreciated!!

    cheers

you shouldnt have any problems if using an FTP program to transfer image to /tmp folder of the dbox with Win 7. I suspect you transferred it to the wrong place !

If he'd FTP'd an 8mb image to anywhere on the dbox2 OTHER than the /tmp folder, it would have filled up the / or the /var partition and require IFA to undo the mess!

Nah- he's making the common mistake of using FTP in the room where his PC is, then unplugging the dbox to take it to another room where the TV is, LMAO!

When a dbox is powered off, the contents of /tmp are wiped!! The solution for this situation is to use a long extension lead, so power is maintained on the dbox throughout the operation. Or, a long crossover ethernet cable to reach from the the PC to the dbox in it's normal location. Or, a long straight-thru ethernet cable from dbox to Router.

        Cheers- AL

          hi paphosal, yeah thats right...

my computer is upstairs and tv is downstairs.

but when i try to ftp the new image across, everytime i plug the dbox in to flash the image across it does not load up anything across onto the dbox.

          any ideas?

last time i did it by taking my tv upstairs to my room which was a bit of a hassle!!
