interesting, like someone suggested maybe dealers who have been nabbed giving out customer lists, or maybe Virgin bought some boxes themselves to flog and then sending out the letters to the reciepients knowing the word would get out. Certainly will be wise not to buy from Ebay. Wonder who the seller was he got the box of

dodgy buying anything like this on ebay these days as virgin is clamping down on eb@y selling them , and it will be very hard for anyone to be able to advertise one.

Eb@y is linked to Paypal, so any transactions will be noted. and easily traced.

Its like when you buy a new TV, after a few weeks you get a TV licence letter through your door even if you have one, so i guess it will be the same from now on from virgin.

i think in time even buying from China will become a problem, because i can see the days when customs will be told to open any parcel that's the same shape and size as a dodgy box.

Just got to be more careful from now on, or wait till this boils over.

Correct me if I'm wrong...but isn't there a legal requirement to explicity inform you if information about you is to be shared with a 3rd party?

There is and its called the Data Protection Act. The person who got the letter could contact VM and demand access to all information relating to him they have on file (including any hand written material) then we will know whether ebay/paypal are the grass or the seller.
