chmod fails

I am looking to upgrade my old Sportster image to the SS-enigma or lincsat.
But when I try the chmod commands to 755 they all fail.

Also any advice on where to place files would be appreciated.

Sorted it the chmod now..Needed to refresh the FTP software page..
