Change your FTP software that you can download from here:
Digital Kaos - Downloads - Filezilla FTP Free to use

    and read this guide M8

What client software are you using? Does it connect to the box and fail while entering username and password? Does it show the directory listing of the dbox? Please provide more details so we can help you.

But first read the guide Salami has linked to.

Ping and Ftp from a command line helps rule out client program issues ,

        Start - Run - cmd

        c:\> ping x.x.x.x (dbox address)

        c:\> ftp

        ftp:> open x.x.x.x (dbox address)
        User : root
        password : dbox2

ftp> ls ( lists directory contents)

I use Smart FTP Client from SmartFTP - FTP Client (trial) and that always works - try downloading the trial and see if it works. The only settings you need to put in is the box IP, username and password, leave everything else as it is.
