Can somebody please tell me do i need cross over cable and com or can i do it just with ethernet and ftp it, and if both why?

You need just a crossover cable if you are going from a pc to the dbox.

If you are going through a router, then just a straight through cable will do.

You can apply the new roms or even flash a new image with just the crossover cable.

hi mate thanx for reply i know i need to use an ftp program which is best?also which other files need updating like roms keys etc where do i get these and where do i put them in the box files??????slowly coming together.

Strangely enough I just answered the same question for someone else so I was able to copy the answer and add a wee bit.

I personally use FlashFxp, but there is a guide below if you want to look at it.

You can get the keys folder below, just extract to your pc then ftp to /var/keys

then you need to apply the fixed roms, get then below and extract to your pc and ftp to /var/keys, overwriting the other ones.
