Step by step guide to transferring the new Nagrarom7.bin file to Dbox2

Step by step guide to transferring the new Nagrarom7.bin file to Dbox2

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here's a quick guide on how to transfer the nagrarom7 file using FTP.

    What?s required - HARDWARE:

    1. DBox2
    2. RJ45 Network Crossover cable. (NOT an ethernet cable)
    3. PC (this was done using windows XP) with a network card.

    What?s Required ? SOFTWARE:

FTP program eg. ?Flash FXP? (30-day trial version works fine).
You can download this from the Private FTA.

    Let?s Get Started:

To make this easier, place your tv/box close to your PC
(so that you have easy access to the back of both, to change cables around.)

    1. PC Setup: Now would be a good time to create a ?System Restore Point? on your PC,
(as you will have probably have to change the IP settings, to something different from your internet settings).

Unplug your internet connection NOW to avoid any conflicts.

Switch OFF all firewalls and antivirus on your PC
(and make sure windows XP built in firewall is OFF)

    2. Power on the TV and DBox, but don?t hook it up to your PC yet.

Using the remote control, press DBOX > SETTINGS > NETWORK
Take a note of the DBox network settings
    (this is an example only)

    IP-Address 192.168.0.3
    Net Mask 255.255.255.0
    Broadcast 192.168.0.255
    Def Gateway 192.168.0.2
    Name Server 192.168.0.2

    3. On the PC go to START BUTTON > SETTINGS > CONTROL PANEL and open the NETWORK CONNECTIONS

Right-click the network card (it may say Local Area Connection),
and select PROPERTIES > CONFIGURE > ADVANCED tab

Highlight the ?Connection Type? (in the left window),
and in the right ?Value window there is a drop down menu (it will probably currently say automode)
Change the Value to 10 full mode then OK

Again, right-click the same connection, and go back into the PROPERTIES of the network card
There is a List of items in the first window (you may need to scroll down further)
Left-click on internet protocol, when it is highlighted, click the PROPERTIES button.

Select the ?Use the following IP address?
Enter the settings, as you seen it on your DBox, except the IP address will be one digit less of the last number
(eg. 192.168.0.3 on DBox, so use 192.168.0.2 on your PC)

    OK these settings.

    4. Connect the RJ45 cable between PC and DBox (linking them together)

    Run the Flash FXP program
On one side should be the files on the PC
On the other side make sure you select ?ftp browser? (the tab is a monitor and folder picture)
    (It may already be selected)

Click CONNECT (the icon which looks like a lightening bolt)

Select QUICK CONNECT the three boxes require some information
SERVER OR URL = (enter the IP address of the DBox)
    USERNAME = root
PASSWORD = dbox or dbox2 or commando

    Then click CONNECT

You should now see the DBox files in the window (if not, check the IP settings/password).

    5. In the PC file window, browse to the folder containing the nagrarom7 file.

In the DBox window browse to the var/keys folder (NOTE: you may already be in this folder).

Transfer the nagrarom7 file across into the var/keys folder

Delete any other nagrarom(10/11... etc) files

When done close down the Flash FXP program.

You may need to Enable Autoupdates on your Image (search forum on how to do this).

    Now reboot the DBox

Switch to a non-FTA channel. Wait a few minutes for codes to update.

6*. You may want to use the ?System Restore? program now, on your PC,

Select ?Restore To An Earlier Time? and choose the correct point
Turn back ON your firewall, and virus checker
Connect back onto the internet, and online to the forum
Let us know if you have any problems.

    SubZero

    * "Note to the above about point 6. If your on broadband, just select the obtain ip address automatically and same for preferred dns and it will do everything for you." thanks to masallawalla

If its flashfxp you are using, you can usually drag & drop it across or highlight on left side and theres a button at the top that looks like 2 arrows in a circle (one orange and one green) If you hover the mouse over the button it will tell you its transfer. Just click that and it will transfer it for you.

You are not thick M8 you are like any body else learning new stuff.

when you open FTP software and your dbox is connected to your PC or laptop via crossover lead you will be able to see your dbox files or folders on the right side half of your monitor and your computer and it's content on the left side half.
lets assume that the file you would like to upload is nagraram7 to your dbox that is saved in your dsktop you will see this on the left side of your monitor.

choose scce and double click on it from the list that is showing on the right hand side of your monitor (this is your dbox) and highlight Key if is not already highlighted. what you need to do here on the left click on nagraram7 with your right mouse button a little window will opne and click on (transfer)
with left mouse button and that's it nagraram will transfered you'll may be asked to over write it just click on ok to replace the old one.
            is easy isn't it.

Its easy just to transfer the 1 file instead of flashing new image. This way you dont loose all your channel list. You do it once and you get the hang of it, its a good learning experience.

You mignht need to restart the network

                              Hi,
under SETTINGS> NETWORK, RESTART NETWORK , after you have setup the ip add and network config, as in the begenning of this thread.
You can also test the network, under:SETTINGS> NETWORK>
that way you know that you have a working network.
I am using lincsat-7.25 on a Sagem and it took me ages to figure that out.
                              Hope that helps

                              Destheman
