I have the same problem, I can't explain why it's happening but a hard power off using the power button at the box usually brings um back.

Is there anyone out there with one of these ex5000 pvr units who is not having any problems??

I've tried all the tricks on mine and it seems to work until I put it back into standby and I'm back to square 1, at least 30-60 seconds to come on and PVR not working.

I've given up on it to be honest, as the V+ works just great.

same here works fine until you put it in standby when i switch it back on the pvr recordings are lost or wont work until you switch it off at the back of the box, my box also takes about 60 seconds to come on, never worked properly from day one thinking of giving up on the pvr function and getting a pvr recorder.
