    Eurovox ex5000 pvr don't u just love them,lol plz help!!!

    hi peeps,

    i am really stuck i have downloaded the updated firmware for the eurovox ex5000pvr and have installed it to box,i then connected it back upto the tv after update and it asks for a deep scan or fast scan it deletes all channels but i have no new channels installed,we lost our signal in november and have yet to get it bak,am i doing something wrong,cud u advise as we are fairly new to all this??
    wud appreciate any help u can give as were lost with out it and it won't even pick up terrestrial channels through the box!!
    with regards to connecting any leads to the pvr all u require is a scart to tv and the co-axial goin into box is that correct or do i need to add any additional leads???

    are you actually paying for any services from them m8??

    if not try and borrow another box to see if your feed is still live...if it is still live then the box could be dodgy

      Don't ever O.K. on DEEP SCAN or FAST INSTALLATION
      Instead go down to USER INSTALLATION - Hit YELLOW key (POWER SCAN)
      On bottom left of power scan page your old friend (FAST INSTALL) appears
      Don't be fooled by him again IGNORE HIM

      If START is 100 MgHtz no need to alter
      If stop is 870 MgHtz thats fine
      Set Symbol Rate;

      N*L (IRL) 6887 (cable & Mmds)

      CHO*US (IRL) 6875 (Cable & Terrestial)


      U.K. 6952

      All other symbol rates are at 0000 No need to alter these
      STEP is at 8 That is fine FAV SORT (ON-OFF) is optional

      PRESS O.K.

      Sit back and relax and your eurovox will do the rest ENJOY

      P.S.
      When accessing menu always take your time & READ prompts
      at bottom of screen (except prompts containing words FAST & DEEP)
      WISE OLD MAN SAYS;
      BULL IN CHINA SHOP USUALLY WREAKS HAVOC

      If POWER SCAN dont fix your problem make sure PROV cable is connected
      to CABLE input not ANT-IN

      If your still in trouble get back on here with details;

          still not working....sorry about the delay!!

          hey Emamon,

          sorry about the delay with replying been very busy with work etc and have only just got round to trying out the eurovox again,i have checked all the settings that u mentioned and can confirm that everything is correct,so i go to start the power scan and once i have okAYed it all it says that it is WAITNG TO DELETE CHANNELS FIRST AND GOES THROUGH THE 770,but there isn't any saved channels anyway!!it was working fine until they changed the system i think end of november beginning dec,any other ideas on what we can try unfortunately i don't know anyone else with one to try another box!wat firmware have u used for urs mite be worth trying another if there is??

          again await ur response and this time i will message back within 24 hrs.

            Have you used the latest firmware and are you scanning on the correct symbol rate?

            Please read the red stickies at the top of this section. They will have all the info you require. If you get stuck please post back.

                Get back here or PM me with following details
                GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION
                NETWORK PROVIDER
                CABLE or MMDS or TERRESTIAL
                EXACT FIX used & DATE OF ISSUE
                SYMBOL RATE USED FOR POWER SCAN

                If we can't sort it out I am sure SATSMO could direct you
                to a nearby pirate on same network where you could bring
                your box to test it.
                Before you do this make sure NETWORK cable is in correct
                connection.Also make sure cable is not disconnected at wall
                socket or splitter somewhere else in house
                If you are on cable system put NETWORK cable directly into
                TV. You should be able to view basic channels
                If you are on AERIAL (MMDS or TERRESTIAL) make sure
                POWER SUPPLY unit is plugged into mains
                Also make sure cables are correct at POWER SUPPLY unit

                AERIAL--ANT TV--EUROVOX 500

                I think the problem is the cable to your box has no signal
                So check all connections before you get back here
                IF you find cables are wrong re-connect properly and start
                POWER SCAN again as last POWER SCAN will have erased all
                channels & transponders
                P.S.
                As a last resort check your bank details as failure to pay the
                piper may lead to loss of sweet tune
                Get back soon your problem is very minor and you will be
                kicking yourself when you fix it
                N*L are issuing new cards for their boxes and they take up to
                SIX hours to update
                PIRATE boxes on a key roll update in 30 seconds
                So I ask you who is ahead of the GAME
                When you are sorted flick thru forums now & again to keep
                yourself up to date with future hits & fixes and if you see a
                query from a novice that you can answer, do so as I am sure
                SATSMO & other senior chaps get bored replying to basic
                questions over & over again, so help out if you can because
                like all voluntary community services too much is left to too
                few.These volunteers dont have endless time, they have to
                earn a living like you & me.Sorry to rant on,this is not directed
                at you,but to all forum users,some of whom when their problem
                is fixed the attitude is;

                After a days toil these chaps can be tired and if the workload

                    been so busy!!

                    i have checked all my symbol rates etc and they seem as recommended i have wrote all the details down but have misplaced them at mo so will log on tomorrow as i will be home for afew days now to relax and hopefully sort out this,the new firmware 2.1 i downloaded was recommended from here,the only thing coming up on screen now is NO TRANSPONDER TO CAN,how do i get a transponder is that ment to be the firmware??or rf line??have also checked ll cables etc and everything is looking good!!
                    will log bak on tomorrow with more details

                      evening gents

                      i have used the new firmware that was updated on the 5th dec and have installed it into eurovox ex5000pvr i obtained this from ur links to 4shared.com - free file sharing and storage
                      it was great when i first installed it in october and was working fine ever since end november we have had nothing wat so ever we have checked all cables and they are correct,each time we try to do a scan it says deleting channels but we have non or any stored!!now when i try to update channels it says that there is NO TRANSPONDER TO SCAN am really confused now by all this!her is some info that may help u guys diagnose my problem.
                      the location is gloucestershire,
                      the provider is Virgin which i believe were telewest?
                      firmware is as stated above the new 2.1v but only says 2.00v when downloading onto eurovox
                      the symbol rate for power scan is 6.952 mbaud
                      the supply is cable which i have installed into rf in and then have a scart to tv from eurovox and also have a terrertrial feed into eurovox to!
                      i am not currently payin for any services apart from broadband and telephone so no tv but surely that shudn't affect it,shud it as all services shud be provided to house???

                      i have opened up the system info on box and it reads as follows:-

                      Model: DVB-XC EX5000 TDA
                      s/w ver: 1.0 ST4 October 28 2008
                      h/w ver: 2.0+ KS+D
                      Bootstrap: v001
                      s/w build: KURO

                      also if i was to start a full power scan the following details are wat i have set up for it:-

                      Symbol Rate: 0.000Mbaud

                      does everything appear ok to you as i have been tryin for 4hrs this evening and am so fed up tonight that i'm off to bed and fingers crossed maybe hear from u guys tomorrow with some good news and try again!!
                      does anybody live or no anyway from gloucestershire area even cheltenham tewkesbury or gloucester that cud test my box incase its faulty!that wud be very much appreciated

                        try scanning on sybol rate 6887 mate.
                        Sometimes a slow gradual approach does more good than a large gesture.

                            Try Factory Default then powerscan, your symbol rate is 6952 for your area so use that and set step to 6 instead of 8, give that a try and let us know how it goes.

                              Connect cable straight to TV, do an auto tune on TV menu.
                              If no channels are found PROV has cut cable to TV point.
                              Re-connect cable at PROV box (use F-TYPE splitter with TAP)
                              TV cable to TAP connection. You should be in business.
                              Go back to POWER SCAN on box [sym rate 6952]
                              If this is beyond your remit post a request for a nearby member
                              to visit your home.No matter what he may charge it would be
                              worth it.
                              You should be up and running in time to see UNITED & CELTIC
                              holding the trophies aloft. All the best
                              Prov box can found where broadband modem is connected
