Eurovox EX 5000 PVR - flashing problems

Hi to all fustrated Eurovox EX5000 users still trying to flash their boxes with new firmware. My tip is to forget the USB adaptor and just use the null modem cable connected directly to the RS232 port on your PC. If you don't have one go to a mate who does. I had endless problems with the Maplin USB adaptor and eventually took it back for a refund. They simply do NOT work !!!
When I connected the null modem 9-pin cable directly I got instant response from the box and downloaded the new firmware.

I think thats a bit harsh against the usb adaptor.

I've been using one for three years without a hitch. If you have the correct drivers which are freely available on the net they work a treat.

I've flashed every box there is that uses a serial connection.

If you've lost some channels, you just need to do a re scan to bring them back.

you must go to device manager/ports and change usb to serial cable to com port 3 in properties then try again
