Input and Power Problems - Eurovox 5000

    Hi,

Bought my dad the above reveiver for christmas to replace his Starview 1 box.

Having only just had the opportunity to test it we've established that we seem to have two issues with the Eurovox which I would appreciate some advice on please.

    1. The Eurovox is plugged in to scart input 1 on the tv and it operates fine in this way...... until the Eurovox is turned off! Once it's in standby mode, the TV does not default back in to it's own internal tuner mode - the screen remains blank (problem is corrected if I pull the mains plug on the eurovox). We've never had this issue with the old Starview box.

    2. The Eurovox seems to jam/lock up when trying to switch on from standby mode. The only way to power back up is to swich the power off completely and then switch it back on - that seems a coincidence as 'power off via the plus/rocker switch' seems to correct problem 1 too.

I am having great difficulty in getting through to the supplier via telephone to discuss this. I'm hoping that by posting this, there might be somebody on here might be kind enough to provide me with some pointers regarding a solution to these issues.

Also.....should the RS232 cable provided have female connections at both ends like the only I received with the Eurovox? - it seems that all three of my pc's seems seem to require a male input from the RS232 cable which is odd.

Any replies would be much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

    David.

cant really help with the questions m8 but the rs32 is 2 female ends some more recent pc's do not accomodate rs32 connction it is mainly older pc's you probably need a usb connector to correct the problem

Thanks for that, thered. Not a problem - adaptors/cables are cheap enough so I'll buy one.

Do any of you have any ideas regarding the input/seizure problems please? - this is a bit embarassing, as I got this unit for my dad as a Christmas as a gift and the glitch is driving him crazy

      Cheers,

      David

1, Try the scart lead into input 2 socket on the TV.

2, A very common problem with the EX5000PVR it does the same with mine and have seen this across the forums, if the HDD is removed this doesn't happen so must be related in some way, the only thing i can recommend for this is to tell your dad not to leave his box in standby overnight and to power it off at the switch at the back of the box then it will power up fine each day.

            Thanks for the info Hiteck.

I wish I had made myself aware of this issue prior to purchase - I'd have bought a SV3 instead.

Do you think the EV glitch is firmware related and that a fix might be on the horzon in the near future from somewhere?

One final issue (and this is my fault) - I run a powerscan and ever since the scan completed the EPG has double entrys for each channel. What would the best way be to delete the double channels without having to go through them one by one?

To be honest mate I don't know. It's not really that much of a problem as said it's easy just to power the box off each night then this wont happen, it's as if it has trouble waking the HDD up because once removed the eurovox powers up fine.
