Alright, Where to start hmmmmm.....
Originally I said I was going to wait before buying this, But I bit the bullet and got one anyway. At least now we have a box for every room.
Generally the 7000 is a pretty good box, But first lets get the bits covered that everyone wants to know. It's true folks the upscaling is not that great I'm afraid, There is a difference but only a very minor one. The picture quality remains the same but the colours are slightly more vibrant. As for bbcHD, Yes this is true HD, looks beautiful!
Gone is the old drab inteface/epg and replaced with a spiffy new black, grey and red one. The menu button when pressed now brings the menu onto the channel you are currently watching rather than taking you onto a menu screen. Here you can select you options whilst viewing, you can scroll the menu from left to right and have the usual options you had on the old ev's.
I'm afraid to say the scope of the epg has not been altered, you will still only be able to see into early next morning if you're lucky. To me this is a bit of a let down, But still all is not lost as you can now have 8 fave catagories which is a step up from previous ev's.
Scanning has also been improved, It now only takes about 10mins to scan as opposed to the 20-30 with the previous boxes.
The channel changing can be a bit slow I have noticed but I suspect that this is down to the f/w (first release) which I'm sure will be sorted out in later f/w releases.
I'm afraid I can't tell you anything about the pvr function as I have not yet tested it, But I will be sure to report when I do (long as nobody hasn't already)
Another thing that has recently come to my attention is the lack of the on screen info button (the programme description, not the frequency info), which as most of us know on the previous ev's was actually the exit button. I suspect that this may well be addressed in future f/w releases. I will keep adding to this review as time goes on, So watch this space.
Thanks for taking the time to read ladies and gents.
