    new box wanted advice please

Hi, Ive a eurovox 5000 PVR and want a second box for another room, can anyone suggest which I should go for.

    max -?110
pvr preferably - Ive a spare hard drive already
    quick delivery

I was htinking about another eurovox but the 5100 as its easy to use but then I may be better off with a different model just in case all eurovoxes go off.

Best thing to do charliev is have a read through the forum, I personally wouldn't consider buying a max V now, too many clones about, if you decide to buy a 5100 then your guaranteed a genuine or you could consider the new ex7000 HD but bare in mind only 1 HD channel at the moment, another 4 to follow very soon.

As HiTek says, you have really got to watch out you dont end up with a clone, and the best way to avoid one is buy one of the newest models that hasnt been (as far as we all know) copied yet.
The EX7000 seems to be a damp squid with a terrible upscaler chip (if it actually has one and isnt simply re-coding the output to 720p without any anti aliasing or processing), so you can avoid that one and save a few quid - the 5100 as mentioned elsewhere hasnt been cloned yet so looks a safe bet :-)

If you want some future-proofing then all you guys will need to ditch these 'Plug and Play' amature boxes and move over to a Linux box such as a Dreambox.

The reason being that once Nagra 3 encryption raises it's head, your box will instantly become a door-stop, Linux boxes can be programmed to emulate any current encryption.

They are more complicated to setup, but as long as you can READ then you shouldn't have any problems.
          @ Charleiev....Dreambox600 is a great machine mate.
