    ufl can't detect com port

    Greetings

I have a dead eurovox max v 2008 that I got for free. Following the great threads here I got a jtag cable and loaded the 2008tsop file ok and the box now powers on and the time comes on and the channel number shows in the display when i turn it on. However, I can't get the firmware to detect the eurovox. I have tried several pc's (new and old, with onboard com ports and using usb adapters) and different operating systems using different com port settings to no avail. I tested the null modem cable by updating another eurovox and it worked fine so I know the cable is ok. I tried starting the update then plugging in the box. Has anyone else had this problem? Thank you for getting me so far anyway, it's good fun this is.

Just to check you are trying to flash it with this Digital Kaos - Downloads - UK Max V Autosort Fix 051208

What operating system are you using now (Vista or XP) and is that with or without a USB adapter.

I am using an oldish p4 fujitsu with one built in com/serial port that is running windows xp pro and I am using that 051208 firmware. I used the same setup no bother on another eurovox that I borrowed to test it all on.

When you look in Device manager click the + at the side of Ports (COM & LTP), what com number is the Serial Port listed under.

Communications Port (COM1), it's says "This device is working properly." and it's set to default values.

Right click on com port 1, select properties, now select the Port setting tab, ensure Bits per second is set to maximum then click advance, at the bottom change com port number to 3, press OK OK and try the flash again.

Changed the settings as suggested. The ufl suggests com3 but when I click on "start" to flash it says no eurovox detected and offers me a choice of com1 to com4. I picked com 3 but it stays waiting for reciever.

Don't think it's a clone, looked at the pictures and guides and it seems original. Same deal with that firmware.

Try the reset button on the board,

turn the EV off, press and hold the reset button down with a pencil, start the UFL and press download, turn the box on at the mains then release the reset button, try a few times.

No luck so far, thank you. I took out the mainboard (wore a static strap) and cleaned it with ipa and checked the soldering. Everything seems ok. Strage one. Ah well, the free one is the one to learn on.

No luck I'm afraid. I took out the motherboard and cleaned it with ipa (used an antistatic band n brush) and examined it with a magnifying glass and I see no problems there. I reseated it and tried again but no good. Ah well, the free one is the one to learn on.
