If you are a newdie try to get a box that is already set up for the uk and your location, as unlike me, its hell trying to get it up and running! How ever the guys on this site are all great and i have have had loads of assistance from Gismo and metman to name a couple!!!

i would say that the dreambox (or other linux based such as itgate) is the way to go. marginally more difficult to set up than a box of the plug and play variety but its pretty simple really.

the clone 500c are fine. most have the philips tuners in them. you can pick one up for about ?65. you can buy a legit (or clone) dream 600 or 7025 but the prices shoot up.

the vox, s`view, dvox and arnet all get you free tv. of those types of box the last two would be my recommendation. really boils down to personal choice though mate.

Starview 4 is by far the easiest box I have ever set up, and a far better epg than any box imo.
Sometimes a slow gradual approach does more good than a large gesture.
