Necessary to have VM box connected??

    Hi All

Since buying the Eurovox 5100 I’ve connected it and it’s all working fine. I’ve packed away the VM box. Is this a good idea or should I consider having both boxes connected. I’ve heard that if a VM box is disconnected for a few months it will not work if I ever plugged it in. It’s not an issue short term but if I do ever call VM to report an issue will they not be able to tell that I have disconnected the VM box, I appreciate that they cannot tell that I have a Eurovox.

Secondly if you lot recommend I do have the VM box connected in some way, is it possible to connect a splitter onto another split connection. I’ve got a single coax which has been split for broadband and TV so would I split it again to support the VM box??

    Regards

reconnect your vm box because of talk back and yes you can split it,ive got a slitter coming out of the wall a cable from there to the bedroom with the vm box on it and another cable from the wall to the front room telly with another splitter on the end of that cable with one cable to the telly and one to the computer

you will get different opinions on this mate. certainly you will need a splitter - jusy buy a three way splitter.

personally never used my vm box (and i am talking 7-8 years). there are tons of people who dont use it just read any forum when this question is asked.

It really boils down to personal choice. If you are a user of the on demand facility or have a good reason for keeping your vm box then do so. depending on the layout of your house split the outside line and run the vm box into another room.

I was more concered with the fact that if I ever have to connect the VM box after a long period of time and find it doesn't work if an engineer visit is required. I thought it would look very sus

It does work but it needs quite a long time to update. I didn't have mine plugged in for around a year and was having problems with signal issues so I plugged it back in and let it update (which took ages) the only problem was in the hidden menu on the subbed box it logs when it was turned on/off and error reports, the engineer was suspicious to why the last log date was nearly a year ago so I would advise to keep the box turned on.
