    EX 5100 pvr Harddrive?

I just purchessed a ex5100 with out the hard drive as i had 2 2.5 harddrives kicking around, I tried to place one into the box and neither of them fit.. I am sure one of the hard drives is a IDE drive.. My question is what harddrive to buy and what size can i go for?

The hard drives that are compatiable with the EX5000 and I assume it is the same for the EX5100 is a 2.5 IDE either segate or western digital.

I am not too sure on the maxium size they can take but I know a 120gig will work. Have a look at prices and you will see how many gigs you get for you pound and the how the cost goes down the bigger hard drive you buy.

They always advertise them as taking a max 120gig but i reckon you could put a bigger one in e.g. 240gig but nobody is gonna let you try one unless you know a friendly PC shop.. I bought a 240 disk for about 9 months ago for a DM for about ?45.

some drives like hitachie have lugs fitted at the side which prevent the drive from being fitted these lugs can be snapped off and drive will work

The maximum size drive is 120GB. you could possibly put in a larger drive, however you will need to use a hard drive utility to only show 120GB and hide the rest. I am using a seagate momentus 160GB with 40GB hidden and it works fine.
