PVR issue

On some of my recordings the audio and video seem to drift out of sync,almost a second different some times but it does correct itself. Is this an issue with the hard drive. Can I reformat it from the box or do I need to connect it to a PC but will it work back in the box again?
Anyone else have problems with audio/video sych?

I have an EX5000 PVR and have the same problem but noticably when I pause a recording and then resume.

I am quiet sure that formatting the hard drive will not cure the problem.

Not quiet sure how to overcome this problem.
