Usb serial and null modem cable???

Hello just wanted to ask, it states in your thread that if your laptop does not have a 9 pin connection you would need the usb to serial cable to flash your eurovox.

But it also says that aswell as that cable you still require the null modem cable to flash the eurovox?

Can i ask why i would need both cables if my laptop doesnt have the 9 pin connection?

    Thanks.

Because you still need to interface with the box via a serial crossover cable. So you cannot go directly to the box with a USB adapter.

So its USB to PC - D9 end of USB connected to one end of the null modem cable - other end of null modem cable to RS232 serial port on the back of the box.

Ahh right ok so when i get my usb to serial cable the connection is different so the the null modem cable just pushes into the usb cable.

Correct, the sticky guides at the top of this section are all you need. Any problems post away.

Can i also ask you one other thing mate im waiting on my eurovox 5100 getting delivered so obviously its a brand new box from wantabox.com

Can i use that scotland cdf file to sort my channels out in order or do you have to sort them yourself the first time you get your box?

You can use the CDF if its up to date and for your area and provider. But it might not be to your liking. If its your first Eurovox and you do not have a CDF of your own, I would do a scan and then edit the channels/FAVS to your preferences that way you have your own CDF to adapt/edit to your liking.

The latest firmware for that particular model is here http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums..._16-01-09-527/ like most of the Eurovox range it has an auto sort function. So your channels will be categorised when you scan, again it might not be to your preferences. There is a way to disable auto sort but lets wait until you get your box
