eurovox ex 5000 help

Hello,

I am thinking of buying a ex5000 but am worried about ending up with a clone. Is there any way to tell before ordering one off the net. Is there any dealers that I should stay away from. Also for updating the firmare I have a fairly old Pc in my workshop with a nine pin serial port in my workshop that runs XP. Do you think this would be okay for the job.

You should look at buying the EX5100 which replaced the EX5000 because there were to many clones about. Two trusted buyers that I have used and can say their service is excellent is:-

In regards to your old computer have windows XP and the nine pin port will be sufficient to update the firmware on your box.

get a ex5100 pretty much same as ex5000,basicaly bought out to combat the ex5000 clones.yer pc will be fine for updating infact probably better than a vista system. google skywonder for your box.spot on

How can you tell a clone from a genuine box

just reliesed i have no sly premier in movie chans
deleted all chans fast scan no joy
deleted all chans deep scan found sly premier
but got 2 of every other chan,can i put sly premier in manually
