There may be a signal boost facility on your e/vox menu m8 if its on switch it off or vice versa, also make sure your using a good quality splitter.

As camelv said it probably is due to the splitter some cheap splitters cant handel to much at one given point if your not sure to check if your box booster is on do the following :-

Menu > Config > Tv Settings then at the bottom you will find signal booster

One other thing has it always happened or just after update flashes ?

Drop the signal down with a variable attenuator.
          Keep calm carry on.

One known issue at present is they have upped the signal strength in certain areas to cater for there upgrades this has been known to send a buzzing through the box what can be anoying when your tv is buzzing away to fix this you need to either remove the increaser or put a decreaser in your line i know slightly of topic but why we are talking signal thought i would mention it

Apologies to all, when I went to change the splitter I found a loose connection on main cable feed coming from outside!!
Changed splitter anyway but am sure the problem was the loose connection.
Good news - everything back to normal
Bad news - sorry to waste your time.

              Cheers for all your posts.
