eurovox ex5000pvr dead ?????

hi,
i am a complete novice at this.
i just bought a eurovox ex5000pvr.
turned it on and done a ower scan,but found no channels,then realised that box had to be flashed first.
my mate flashed it for me.
plugged it in and front panel was working normally.
turned it off to install cables and now the front panel is completely blank. not even a standby light.
i can hear the hard drive whirring when the power is on,but when i pull it out there is complete silence.
even tried leaving it for an hour and trying again,but still nothing.
any help would be appreciated

Looks like that latest software is V naughty so beware to all as I think that it can do serious damage...

I have tried everything from rs232 serial to USB connections. It will detect the EX5000 as I keep getting "waiting for the response of your receiver".

Can anybody out there solve this issue ?

i have 3 bricked ex5000 pvr

i have 3 eurovox ex5000pvr. from 2 diffent web sites
updated with darx fw new one.
i had all the channels for about 4 days then the boxs all hanged on me i can hear the hard drive whirring but no front led no memu. so i tryed then reset buttom on motherboard did not work??then tryed j taging with black (fw) front led powerd up but had green lights going clock wise but thats it. is there a .bin file for ex 5000 pvr sky max 2 or j keys i very sure there not clones..
any help lads ??
im now using my box supers no problems... i had the eurovox about a year??

Feb no sort UFL is kiling EX5000 clones, no lights or stuck in boot up.

The fix is to Jtag, just got the file wizard mods (thanks to chic)

Box completely dead no lights after updating with Feb UFL no sort, jtagged with jkeys and working again.

how can you tell if your ex5000 is a clone, had mine since oct last year only flashed it once and its still working fine but if it goes down how can i tell if i need to use clone safe firmware

Hi guys, i have followed a tutorial and jtag'ed my ex5000 pvr, now after jtagging the red light comes on with 4 ---- on the display, then the lines circle half way round the display then this starts all again back to the red light. I tried to flash it with my normal ufl loader, it wouldnt find the com port, so i selected com one and it said waitng for a responce, so i powered off the ex5000 then back on and it started to flash. It downloaded, but failed and the box began to do the above. Is there another bin file or something i have missed when jtagging, as now its back to life, but not properly.

when it went to write, the dnld on the display was flashing until it got to about 40/50% then it stayed on solid for a while, then after about 20 seconds it started to flash dnld again for about 10 seconds, then it went off and the box reset again and went in to the loop i described above while the loader was still saying writing

Any help would be great, just seems its either the jtag method I used, or bad tsop or just something weird

I believe mine to be a clone and it went down a few weeks after updating to the DarX firmware, it started to freeze up a few times a week, so i switched it off from the back then back on, did this a few times, but one time i switched it back on and nothing

Im hoping its the way i jtagged thats casuing this, does or can someone just reply with a basic step by step guide of how to jtag this box, as im thinking it must be this if someone above got theirs working using the same tsop

ive not had to jtag a 5000 yet ,which tsop did you use ie was it for a 5000 ?

only differance is the shity printing on the box ,there was not that many clones about in october pm me with site you bought from and will tell you if they sell clones or not

hi alex, bought from a friend in plymouth who gets about 10 at a time from a family member who lives in liverpool, thats about as far as i know. It just seemed to start playing up a while after loading the DarX firmware, and I have read that would kill a clone, so im guessing mine is.

with jkeys, i ran it, it detected the box, i choose development tools, i then had to power off box, then back on and hit ok on the screen, i then typed in 80000000 and hit load, selected unlock_28FxxxC3, closed that window, hit flash programming, selected the type of chip from pull down menu, then hit erase, it told me to wait while it was erasing, then i hit program and selected the tsop i have got for the ex5000, DXD426RD(1Chip-GLA) - Flash 1(28F160) - Full

It then proceeded to flash.

When its done i power off and back on and thats when i get the red stanby light come on with the four ---- on the display, then they move for a few seconds then it repeats

Am i doing anything wrong with the jkeys????

I used the same tsop as the one a few posts back up on this page

everything seems ok other than factory reset before you flash if it was a clone i believe the nov firmware would sort your box after jtag, if you had a clone feb firmware would kill it straight away as soon as you powered box off and on

Powering the box off after going into Dev panel doesn't sound right, but it seems like your are nearly there.

Does your box have a silver heat sink on the main chip in the middle of the circuit board? (silver heat sink means a clone so I have read)

Anyhow try this:

JTAG tut I used from other forum modified for EX5000, if you get any errors (apart from those mentioned) power box off and start again.


Connect JTAG and Power up EuroVox

Start JKEYS

Click on "Development Panel"
Click OK to ingore the warning.

** SEE BELOW IF YOU GET AN ERROR HERE **

If all goes well you will get into the development panel.

In the user functions box:

Type in the address: 80000000 (eight and seven zeros)
Click on "Load to . . ."

Select the file "unlock_28FxxxC3.bin"

Click "Trigger User"

Close the current window.

Click on "Flash Programming"

Choose the model number as: DXD426RD (1 Chip-GLA)


In the section on the right:

Leave the box above set to "Full"

(Click "Read" and save file if you want to back up existing TSOP)

Click "Erase"

Select YES. This will take a minute to erase.

Click on "Program"

Select YES to "Program at address 0x7FE00000, size 0x200000?"

Choose your TSOP file- DXD426RD(1Chip-GLA) - Flash 1(28F160) - Full.bin
Sit and wait for OK to become active, then click it.

Close JKEYS and power the box down.

Disconnect your JTAG

Power the box on. If all has gone well then it should boot up ready for you to rescan for your channels.




*** If you get an error trying to get into the devleopment windows ****

Power the box down and run SkyMax v2.2
Select 2Mb Adr Flash
Power the box up
Press start.

This seems to reset the box when JKEYS cannot connect (DCU errors).

Close SkyMax and start JKEYS and try again.
